Wellness is finding balance in all of what it means to be human.
I am infinitely fascinated with exploring and finding harmony in all the realms of humanness. Humanness is the intersection of the physical body with mental activity, emotional expression, spiritual connection, and the quality of relationships you keep.
My goal is to help bring relief, insight, awareness, and empowerment to my clients. Depression, anxiety, addiction, and sexual abuse trauma are my areas of expertise.
Here’s a little of my story and how I’ve come to be the practitioner that I am...
In my 20’s, I was obsessed with rock climbing.
Rock climbing combined my love of nature with gymnastics and trailblazing. For many years, I helped advance the difficulty limits of Texas rock climbing. The extreme demands on body and mind came at a cost, and I became an acupuncture patient to help heal the impact of 5 obsessive years.
Helped and intrigued by this medicine that never separated mind, body, and spirit, I embarked on an intensive study of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2000.
I have been in professional private practice since 2004. Upon graduation, I began practicing mindfulness meditation.
Mindfulness, a non-judgemental state of consciousness where one observes what is, changed my life. It decreased reactivity and allowed unhelpful unconscious patterns to be witnessed and transformed. But it wasn’t until 2006 when I took a 2 year Hakomi Training (Mindfulness-Based Somatic Psychology), that I began weaving the awesome healing potential that mindfulness allows into my professional life.
My eyes were profoundly opened to how unconscious processes like developmental wounds, trauma, mental patterns, and emotional habits are inseparable from the bodies we have and the symptoms we exhibit. I began combining the wisdom of modern Western psychology with ancient Chinese healing wisdom.
Since 2009, a lovely fusion of Chinese Medicine and Hakomi is the technology I use to help people.
I am also a teacher at AOMA School of Integrative Medicine and at the Hakomi Institute. Experiential teaching brings me great joy! In my personal life, I am married to an amazing woman and father to a wonderful little boy. I've been part of a men’s group for over 10 years where we meet up monthly to support each other in life’s journey.
Close, connected, authentic relationships play an important role in my sense of wellness. I like supporting clients on their relationship journey.
My spiritual practice includes Buddhist and Taoist meditations and practices. Spiritual practice can foster a connection to purpose, self, and the Universe resulting in a greater sense of wellness. I like to support others in their exploration of Spirit and integrate profound spiritual experiences into their practical, everyday life. All paths of wisdom and compassion are welcome.
